Rachel Gordon, LPC

Hi there! My name is Rachel, and I have a deep passion for supporting children and their families through challenging circumstances and creating a world that values children for who they are now. I have lived in Portland, Oregon for over 10 years with my beloved side kick Roscoe, the trashcan terrier. Together we enjoy listening to birds sing, relaxing outside on breezy days and taking it easy when life allows.

I work with children ages 3-10 and provide support for those experiencing anxiety, depression, family changes, challenges at school, emotion dysregulation, trauma and grief. Children have an inherent desire towards growth and healing when they have opportunities to express and process their experiences in a way that is meaningful and natural for them; through play. In play therapy I provide an environment in which children begin to trust themselves and their ability, practice self-regulation, discover their strengths and limits, build self-esteem and self-control, and establish positive peer and adult relationships. My goal as your child's therapist is to understand your child for who they are as a person, and what's important to you as a parent. Building a safe and trusting relationship with your child is foundational to my work as well as partnering with you, the parents, and exploring ways of supporting your child in various environments such as in the home and at school. I use a collaborative approach when working with parents and you can expect to meet with me regularly to problem-solve and discuss your child's progress in therapy.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Oregon, National Board Certified Counselor (NCC) and an adjunct professor for the Counselor Education Department at Portland State University. Prior to working in a private practice setting, I worked as an elementary school counselor for 4 years and have knowledge and experience navigating the education system. I have extensive supervision and training in Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and am in the process of becoming certified in CCPT.

I look forward to connecting with you.

Katherine Lindsay, CSWA, CADCI

I work with children, teens, and adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, shame, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, substance use, and major life transitions. My style is warm, direct, collaborative, and creative, and I view therapy as a process that should feel approachable, supportive, and free from judgment.

My practice is grounded in trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches including DBT, CBT, ACT, Narrative Exposure Therapy, and attachment-focused therapy. I also enjoy incorporating expressive arts and experiential approaches into sessions, particularly with teens and young adults. This may include watercolor, painting, clay, or other creative activities that make processing difficult experiences feel more accessible and less overwhelming. When appropriate, I also incorporate animal-assisted interventions and therapy animals into my work.

I have worked in behavioral health since 2014 and have experience across mental health, substance use treatment, crisis intervention, and community-based care. I hold a Master of Social Work from Portland State University School of Social Work and a Master of Public Health from New York University. I am a Certified Trauma Professional, a CADC I in the state of Oregon, an Animal-Assisted Intervention Professional, and have additional training in working with first responders.
